Classic Luxury Kitchens Design

All classically styled kitchens have one quality in common – timelessness. Impala’s designers can create a kitchen that looks as if it has been standing for a hundred years or style a kitchen that will stand the test of time for a hundred years hence. With this in mind, aesthetics and practicality are primary considerations. Luxury kitchens can be handpainted, use recycled timber or use polyurethane finishes. Hardworking details are critical to the kitchen’s functionality such as stone tops and practical splashbacks.

10 Key Things to Consider :

1. Including contemporary appliances in your classic kitchen will not detract from the aesthetics. Most appliance manufacturers make models to suit the look you are after.

2. Doors with profiles etched are decorative details characterising luxury kitchens.

3. Incorporating pilasters, columns and corbels will add to the ornate features of a kitchen if you are looking for this style.

4. Handle selection is important – these feature in a classical kitchen.

5. A mantle is often a hallmark of a classic kitchen. This feature can be built into your space even if you do not have a chimney in the kitchen area. They can be made to suit any modern appliance.

6. Consider capping above the cabinets as this adds to the detail.

7. Kickboards which sit proud from the cabinets, (as opposed to recessed underneath) are a nice design feature to incorporate.

8. Stone bench tops and timber tops are the counter top of choice. These can have varying edge profiles in keeping with luxury kitchen styles, for example a double bullnosed edge or “lamb’s tongue”.

9.  Consider using a combination of bench tops - stone adjacent to the cooktop area and solid timber tops in other areas. Timber adds warmth and is practical for working areas.  Many classic kitchens feature this natural material – new or recycled.

10. Tiled splashbacks can add character whilst retaining a timeless quality. Tiles are characteristic of classic luxury kitchens, often with feature tiles behind the mantle.
